Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated clinical research nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility to undertake exciting research in stroke and dementia, according to Good Clinical Practice. You will work with the team to deliver the clinical studies investigating the 18kDa Translocator Protein (TSPO) as a drug target for Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia. You will be based at the Imperial CRF, Hammersmith Hospital but will be required to travel to Charing Cross Hospital to recruit patients from the memory, stroke and neurology services. The frequency of this is to be determined. The `TSPO modulation in AD` study will run for 3.5 years, and we aim to recruit 51 patients and 30 healthy volunteers. The healthy volunteers will have two study visits only, whereas patients will remain in the study for 14 weeks, with up to 7 study visits. The primary outcome measures are imaging-based, and participants will have MRI scans throughout the study at the Robert Steiner Unit within Hammersmith Hospital. You will be involved in many aspects of the study and have a key role in the day-to-day running of study visits. Your role will involve recruitment, conducting study visits (vital signs, venepuncture, cannulation), administration of IMP (oral capsule), data collection (source worksheets and eCRF data entry) and visit bookings. There will be opportunities to become involved with study-specific tasks, such as cognitive testing and peripheral endothelial function testing, with appropriate training. The post holder is expected to remain up to date with Trust and local policies and help support the unit's quality accounts by continuous auditing and developing standards. You are expected to continue developing yourself professionally and academically by utilising the relevant training and support opportunities available. Main duties of the job You will report directly to the Nurse in Charge of the unit for the daily clinical matters. You will be supervised by a research lead for your personal developmental and workload management, and you will be line managed by the ICRF Lead nurse. You will be professionally accountable to the Divisional Director of Nursing, Medicine and Integrated Care (MIC) within the Trust.
