James Lewis are currently assisting an established M&E contractor in their search for an additional Electrical Site Manager to join an existing team on a live project. As a privately owned Mechanical & Electrical Building Services contractor they provide services across Design & Build, full M&E services, HVAC, IT infrastructures, CCTV, security, access control and fire alarms. The company has been founded upon sound practises, quality installations and working closely with their clients on a range of projects which include, commercial, education, residential, healthcare and leisure ranging in value up to £20m. The project involves the refurbishment of an existing custodial centre near Oxford which was last used in 2018. The redevelopment forms part of the government plans to provide safe, secure and fit for purpose detained accommodation for those awaiting removal from the UK. Due to nature of the building, there are various elements to it which include accommodation, a medical centre, sports facilities/gymnasium, educational facilities, catering areas and a library with a total M&E value in the region of £20m. With a few of the team commuting a fair distance each day, they are now ideally looking for the successful candidate to be within closer proximity to the site in Kidlington. The scheme went live in April with this initial phase due for completion in July 2025, with further packages of work likely to see out the remainder of the year. Due to the unusual nature of this project our client is relatively open to previous experience, although any experience on custodial projects would be deemed an advantage. The Site Manager duties include: Manage and oversee the on-site construction team, including Electrical and external Contractors Ensure Sub-contractors work to the programme Report on all Health and Safety issues and demonstrate H&S Leadership and on-site monitoring of all team members and Contractors QA inspections of installations Implement and monitor the project to ensure it is engineered to the highest standard Take ownership of Electrical issues and liaise with the Client and Design consultants to obtain closure and clarifications where necessary Ensure clear reporting lines into Contracts Manager and Project Manager Review of ongoing works and highlight potential defects or risks Complete accurate materials take off in line with the project procurement process Compile project RAMS and ensure they are updated as the project progresses Ensure installations are in accordance with drawing specifications The client is keeping an open mind around day rates, but they are likely to be in the region of £275 - £330/Day. Please note that previous experience on UK-based projects is essential in order to be considered
