Our client, a leading manufacturer in the food sector, is seeking a dedicated Hygiene Manager to oversee and enhance hygiene standards within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This organisation operates multiple manufacturing units and distribution depots, supplying a wide range of food products to major retailers.
Role Overview
The Hygiene Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of the hygiene service within a manufacturing unit, setting and maintaining high standards while managing hygiene teams to meet customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Implement strategies for hygiene quality, efficiency, and innovation to support business objectives.
2. Provide leadership and direction to hygiene teams, ensuring engagement, focus, and performance.
3. Develop a comprehensive hygiene vision that incorporates safety, health, environment, and waste management.
4. Act as the hygiene lead for audits and visits, ensuring excellent working practices that foster trust and growth.
5. Monitor, audit, and review hygiene performance, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.
6. Deliver projects within set timeframes while meeting food safety and financial targets.
7. Prepare and manage the hygiene budget, capital expenditures, and third-party contracts to uphold manufacturing standards.
8. Ensure a safe working environment, meeting the standards outlined in safety, health, and environmental policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Knowledge of chilled food manufacturing processes in high-risk, low-risk, and low-care environments - ESSENTIAL.
2. Holds relevant qualifications such as Level 4 Food Hygiene, Level 4 HACCP, IOSH Managing Safely, COSHH, Allergen Awareness, CIP, and Microbiological Hygiene.
3. Strong financial understanding and experience managing hygiene functions within an FMCG environment.
4. Experienced in managing audits and implementing pest control measures.
5. Proficient in using computer programmes such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
6. Experience in leading and working with a diverse workforce.
7. Familiarity with integrated hygiene and environmental management systems.
8. Ideally educated to degree level.
9. Understanding of equipment manufacturing and capital expenditure requirements.
