About the Role:

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to investing in our site safety across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Health and Safety Officer to join our team, based at our Hollybank site in Scropton, Derbyshire.
As the Health and Safety Officer you’ll be working core hours of Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00. Due to the site having multiple shifts and start times some flexibility will be required to support all departments.
What will you be doing as a Health and Safety Officer at Avara?
As the Health and Safety Officer you’ll be supporting the Senior Management Team in working proactively with managers and operatives to develop and maintain the Health and Safety management system and promoting a culture of safe working practices across Avara Foods.
What will your key responsibilities as Health and Safety Officer include?
1. Maintaining the risk register and supporting site risk assessments.
2. Manage the outstanding actions document ensuring corrective actions are visible and completed in a timely manner.
3. Support management with accident investigations, suggesting improvements and considering how risk can be reduced.
4. Conducting regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
5. Recording of incidents and accidents, producing reports and statistics for managers.
What you’ll need to be successful:
1. Safety qualifications, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
2. An understanding of H&S UK Law and Regulations.
3. Attention to detail and an analytical approach to problem solving.
4. The ability to negotiate and persuade at all levels.
5. Previous experience in a short shelf-life manufacturing setting would be advantageous.
