Job Purpose/Objectives of an Area Planning Manager Ensuring effective management and coordination to maximise utilisation/volume of Ainscough asset’s with minimum cost’s & reduced rehire Key Responsibilities of an Area Planning Manager Accountable for Scotland’s allocation of resources – right crane, right location, right resource. Accountable for Scotland’s rehire – minimising rehire of crane/labour and temp labour. Effective planning to assist Regional Planning Manager of shutdown/project co ordination Accountable to ensure planning compliance to legislative requirements and internal quality health safety and environmental policies and standards. Accountable for maximising operational efficiencies of the ACH fleet under your line management control and working with the wider organisation. Accountable for ensuring that procedures are followed, and our compliance adherence is robust and in line with our daily / weekly / monthly business processes. Responsible for support to the Area Operations Manager in achieving area P&L performance in line with agreed budgets. Responsible for working alongside the Area Operations Managers/Depot Managers who are responsible & accountable for H&S, property, facilities, operators, and maintenance. Responsible for working alongside the Regional Planning Manager to assist in the management of resources and fleet within the areas to ensure they are utilised in an effective manner, specifically cranes, labour and ancillary equipment. Responsible for tracking own fleet utilisation vs rehire in area/region. Work flexibly and cover some out of hours calls. Help recruit, train, and appraise the ACH personnel and support the company’s process for their Personal Development Plans. Deputise for Depot Managers in their absence Assist Depot Manager in processing weekly wages and in conducting daily pre job discussions Provide holiday cover for Depot Manager and Hire Controllers within area. Help train Hire Desk employees and support the company’s process for their personal development plans. Required to work away from home as and when the business needs support Person specification Education/Knowledge/Experience A good standard of literacy in Maths and English. A minimum of 2-years supervisory/management experience in a commercial business ideally within the industrial or hire/ rental industry. People management and health & safety management experience. Proven track record of customer-facing experience working to clearly defined service level agreements and managing a profit and loss therefore being commercially minded, ability to sell the business. Evidence of delivery of continuous improvement within a customer service environment. Awareness and experience with HR management issues such as Disciplinary/Grievance. Local geographical knowledge. Good transport / logistics knowledge. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service environment. Knowledge of QHSE legislation. Knowledge of operating in a unionised environment. Skills/Abilities IT literate – comfortable using systems Excel/Word/PowerPoint. Ability to influence, persuade, and have flexibility. Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate / manage the appropriate outcome. Good time management skills. Organised with the ability to simplify complex issues. Able to able to communicate at all levels, both in verbal & written form
