Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer (IV&V) Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Frimley or Manchester. Salary: Competitive What you’ll be doing: Understanding and interpreting challenging needs and requirements Design and compilation of technical specifications to deliver capabilities in supporting the IV&V strategy Developing, validating and managing requirements designs along with qualification/acceptance activities Integration and test of systems containing electronic, mechanical and software sub-systems, understanding the potential impact on the whole boat and interfacing systems Taking accountability for technical work packages and C&I equipment Verifying that customer needs are satisfied through planned qualification and test activities Steering test systems development through implementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to other engineers Working with customers to support delivered systems and resolve issues Lead technical work packages managing design and deliverable evidence Your skills and experiences: Essential: You will have a good understanding of C&I systems design and demonstrable career experience with these systems Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science) Knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle with the ability to apply good systems engineering practices to your work Desirable: Awareness of Defence Standards and Industry standards, for example IEC 61508 / 61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C / DO-254 Benefits: As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive. The Integration, Instrumentation and Controls Equipment (I&ICE) team: As a Senior Systems Engineer (IV&V), you will be performing a host of system engineering and design activities for the execution of the IV&V strategy. This will involve a broad spectrum of tasks involving the design and setup of the facilities and capabilities (Test Rigs) along with supporting the test programmes through to system certification. These activities are pivotal in supporting the design, development, integration and qualification of complex systems for in-build or in-service vessels. You will be able to expand your professional network by regularly travelling to other BAE sites.
