Job Title Associate (NQ-4) – Disease Team Job Location Edinburgh Job Type Fee earners Country/Territory Scotland Region UK & Europe Description Associate (NQ-4) x 2 - Disease Team - Edinburgh/Glasgow Due to the growth in the team we are looking for two Associates (NQ-4 years PQE) to join our Disease Team to be based in the Edinburgh or Glasgow office. The Role The defence of all types of disease claims is one of Clyde & Co's specialist areas. This role involves handling a mixture of claims including EL and PL disease claims on behalf of a variety of clients including insurers, reinsurers, TPAs, local authorities and corporates. Ideally, we are interested in experienced Associates that have experience in managing a caseload of EL/PL claims in court, through to trial. Disease experience is ideal, but not essential, as full training will be provided. Please note that our PQE levels are a guide and all suitable candidates will be considered, including experienced paralegals. Essential Skills & Experience You will be a highly determined and well-organised individual able to adapt well within a demanding, fast-paced litigation team. Previous experience within personal injury or other areas of civil litigation (Defendant or Claimant), ideally with an EL/PL background. You will enjoy being challenged by complex legal issues and expanding your knowledge. You will be focussed on delivering a highly professional service to clients, including compliance with client SLAs and MI requirements. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will take responsibility for: Managing a caseload of litigated EL/PL disease liability claims up to a value of £200,000. Working with all members of our large and highly experience disease team. You will be exposed to a variety of work, but predominantly acting on behalf of a range insurers, reinsurers, TPAs, local authorities and corporates. Assisting and handling a varied caseload as well as appearing in the Sheriff Court. Carrying out investigations, taking witness statements, reviewing and interpreting medical records and medical reports. Identifying information requirements and securing required documentation/evidence from third parties. Adhering to reporting and reserving requirements in relation to different client SLAs. File Management - including initial reports, updating reports and correspondence. Attending and appearing at court hearings, pre-trial meetings and Proofs, and adhering to court timetables. Supporting the Partners in servicing existing clients, growing new business and maintaining relationships with clients using technical excellence and innovation.
