The role
Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Legal Department as a Civil Claims Investigator.
As a Civil Claims Investigator, you will investigate civil claims made against the Chief Constable in order to inform decisions by solicitors to defend or settle claims.
What you’ll do
1. Investigate Civil Claims: Gather and assess evidence for civil claims against the Chief Constable to help the Senior Lawyer (Civil Claims) decide whether to defend or settle cases.
2. Initial Claim Assessment: Provide an initial evaluation of civil claims to determine the necessary level of investigation.
3. Data Interrogation: Use force computer systems and databases to support investigations.
4. Witness Interviews: Interview witnesses and obtain witness statements, documentary, and other evidence.
5. Written Updates: Provide written updates and assessments on the outcomes of investigations.
6. Disclosure Preparation: Assess and prepare materials for disclosure to claimants or their representatives.
