Job Title: Business Manager Location: Sheffield, UK Salary: £50k A leading high-tech company in the field of sample preparation and analysis is seeking a Business Manager for its elemental analysis solutions. Operating globally with multiple production sites and sales companies, this company is part of a larger technology group with a significant workforce worldwide. Region: This hybrid role requires the candidate to be located within a commutable distance from the office to support laboratory trials. Initially responsible for the entire UK territory, the candidate will eventually work towards cross-training other brand managers to support territory management while retaining a dedicated area. Though the role does not involve people management, it necessitates a collaborative approach. Travel is a key aspect of the position, with an expectation of being on the road approximately 2-3 days per week, including an average of one overnight stay. Primary Responsibilities: Serve as the primary point of contact and manage individual customer needs. Develop technical knowledge of products to support customer queries through various communication channels. Develop and implement a UK brand strategy with support from leadership and manufacturing units. Manage both direct and third-party sales pipelines. Conduct market research to understand target markets and consumer behaviour. Assist marketing functions to increase lead generation through campaigns and promotions. Monitor performance, track, and analyse brand performance, including market share and growth opportunities. Manage enquiries accurately within the CRM system from opportunity to order. Attend regular meetings and demonstrations at the designated facility. Conduct customer demonstrations and trials both in the laboratory and at customer sites. Train regional teams and support cross-selling activities across different brands within the organisation. Key Skills and Qualifications: A degree in a scientific or technical discipline (preferred). Experience in selling scientific equipment (preferred). A results-driven individual with strong closing skills and motivation to achieve targets. Experience in an account management role, supporting mid-size to large business customers. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve customer issues or engage internal resources to facilitate resolution. Strong business acumen with a technical background. Flexibility for UK and occasional international travel to manufacturing units. Experience in selling or using material characterization equipment would be advantageous, as would experience in a laboratory or scientific environment. What is Offered: Core working hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 – 16:45, and Friday, 8:00 – 12:30 (early finish on Friday). Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
