SEMH Teaching Assistant We are currently recruiting for a committed and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic alternative provision in Blackburn, supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of students with challenging behaviours. Role Details: Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Blackburn (Alternative Provision - KS3/KS4) Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 3:20pm; Friday, 8:00am - 2:30pm Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour Contract: Long-term temporary with the potential to become permanent Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH and challenging behaviours. Assist with the delivery of tailored lessons to help students achieve both academic and personal goals. Support students in developing emotional regulation and positive social skills. Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. Encourage students to reach their full potential by offering consistent guidance and support. The Ideal Candidate: Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH or behavioural challenges. A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to working in challenging environments. Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff. Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations. A team player with a genuine desire to make a positive impact in education.
