Job summary We are looking to employ an experienced receptionist to work within the NGS Macmillan Unit, Chemotherapy department. This post would be for 18.5 hours per week, working full days on Monday & Tuesday, with Wednesday am only. Please note that full time cover is usually required to cover the other receptionists leave periods. We are looking for our receptionist to provide a friendly, comprehensive and courteous service and ensure the professional co-ordination of the reception area whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. The post holder will provide support of the highest quality and efficiency. Main duties of the job Answering the phone, handling queries, taking messages accurately and promptly. Welcoming patients to the designated area Book follow up appointments and ensure the return of patient case notes are returned to the appropriate departments Opening and distributing post, and other internal communications Photocopying & laminating Accurate and timely recording of appointment outcomes Filing of reports and correspondence in patients' case notes, in accordance with hospital procedures. Maintain patients' case notes including updating and documenting any changes in patient details. Operating IT systems, including but not limited to Medway, email and Microsoft office Undertake clerical duties associated with the discharge or transfer of patients from the clinical teams Demonstrate a flexible approach to the department where there is a need for cross cover duties where appropriate. Be proactive in escalating any concerns of any kind to the Line Manager To maintain confidentiality at all times relating to the patients, staff and the Trust To actively participate in the Staff Appraisal process and to be familiar and comply with Operational, Personnel, Health and Safety policies and procedures including Fire, COSHH, No Smoking and Alcohol.
