The Service department is responsible for service and maintenance of the wind farms within UK and Ireland. The department has an open and informal culture, where teamwork and good communication is the key to our growth. You will have the opportunity to work in an exciting industry and in a team of highly motivated employees.
You will be required to develop a detailed knowledge of our wind turbines to enable you to perform daily maintenance and repairs and other field service-related tasks. Working to the highest safety and environmental standards whilst ensuring that service targets are met, you will be part of a team of service technicians working throughout the region. Apprentices will work with teams across different parts of the business, gaining meaningful industry experience and will have ample opportunity to learn from colleagues who have already completed apprenticeships in the same discipline! We are looking for apprentices who want to learn on the job, developing practical skills, personal competencies and to build relationships with colleagues across our business.
Responsibilities
* Compliance to Vestas' Health & safety, Quality, Operational procedures
* Complete a 2-year HND electrical engineering course at college
* Work at various Vestas windfarm locations, amongst our service teams
* Complete a Vestas qualification & authorization workbook
* Maintenance & service of electrical and mechanical systems
* Collaborate with support functions and colleagues
* Carry out periodic service inspections in accordance with Vestas specifications together with component replacement (both electrical and mechanical)
Qualifications
* Math's, English and Science subject to Nat4 level as minimum. Nat5 and Higher level
* Scottish National (to be eligible for funding)
* Good knowledge of MS office
* Driving license category B
* The ability to work at height of 100 meters and in adverse weather conditions
* Time management and punctuality
Competencies
* An interest in how things work and electrical / mechanical principles and a wish to get experience
* Advanced problem solving and fault-finding skills
* Experience of team working
* An innovative approach, and well organized
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Understanding of, and commitment to, the highest standard of health & safety in the work environment
* A good level of computer literacy

Additional information
This is a regional based role and so travel throughout the region is to be expected. You should live in the Caithness area. The training takes place over a 4-year period working towards Qualifications of NC, HNC & Potentially HND via placement at Ayrshire College. (Ayr Campus). 1st Year full time at college, 2nd year onwards is day/block release with on-site training.
