We have an exciting opportunity to be a part of a new service delivering healthcare services to a small group of men within the Immigration estate.
The Swinderby Residential Short-Term Holding Facility will hold up to 39 adult men for a period of up to 5 days. As part of a small team, you will offer a holistic package of care to a vulnerable group of men ensuring any immediate healthcare concerns are managed, prescribed medications are continued, and a safe discharge is facilitated. An important part of your role will be to offer emotional support to this group of men at an uncertain time in their lives.
The service provision will be seven days a week 24 hours a day and you will work in partnership with other providers to achieve high quality outcomes for the service user group. We aim to provide healthcare to those detained that is equivalent to those in the community.
Main duties of the job
1. To work as part of the Healthcare Centre team leading in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient needs and appropriate care and treatment.
2. Ensure the implementation of the National Service Frameworks and ensure maintenance of high standards of care to the prison population.
3. To coordinate and lead the team as operational daily nurse in charge.
4. To provide leadership, support for and supervision of the team.
5. Maintain professional standards, ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
Job responsibilities
The Offender Health Directorate is one of the largest and most successful providers of prison healthcare in the UK. The Directorate provides physical, mental health and substance misuse healthcare services in prisons across the East Midlands, Lincolnshire & Leicestershire.
We are committed to working in partnership with prison services, national probation service other healthcare providers and our criminal justice system partners to improve health, support justice to reduce re-offending behaviour. The Offender Health Team truly believes it can make a difference to the lives of offenders by offering consistent, high-quality care in primary, mental health and substance misuse services that are equivalent to health services delivered outside of Prison.
To lead effective healthcare services for patients which deliver against required standards, e.g. Key Performance Indicators, Prison Health Performance Quality Indicators, CQC and HMIP.
To demonstrate innovative practice whilst maintaining clinical efficacy, enabling the service to compete as provider of choice to local commissioners.
You will need to have a valid RGN Qualification and be registered with the NMC. You should also be flexible, adaptable and have good IT skills. Ideally you will have prior experience of working within a range of healthcare environments.
The successful applicant will need to pass a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC). The checks included are :

* unspent criminal record.
Additionally, individuals are required to give a reasonable account of 5 years of addresses with the last 3 years having to be in the UK. If there is not 3 years UK footprint, you will have to submit a business case.

* First level registered nurse, RGN
* Evidence of continuing professional development in relevant area e.g. Tissue Viability, Continence Promotion
* HLS training up to date
* Mentor and Assessor
* Independent non-medical prescriber
