Job Description:

Responsibilities:
* The Systems/Solution Architect applies technical knowledge, making independent and joint judgments based on practice and experience relating to identifying opportunities, pursuits, and customer engagement.
* Work directly with the Business Development team, senior leadership, and engineering teams to drive revenue opportunities.
* Collate, define, and quantify each opportunity throughout the ITN, RFI/P/Q, and gated process, facilitating the initial phases on contract to inform the solution architectures.
* Have full working knowledge of a Systems Engineering approach, ISO15288, responsible for the proposed bid solution's logical, functional, and physical architectures.
* Demonstrate awareness of current and future capabilities within the business, identifying partnering options and driving concept decision-making.
* Lead the Engineering team and Systems discipline, representing and aligning engineering opportunities with our Engineering processes and governance framework.
* Line manage a number of reports daily and technically lead and mentor other engineers, supporting pre and post-contract awareness.
* Provide input to engineering and Systems Engineering capability improvement, supporting the implementation and development of agreed improvements.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience with architectural design.
* Full knowledge of the SE lifecycle, V, and various development models (Iterative, Incremental, etc.).
* Experience in strategy, planning, and design of complex solutions.
* Proven SE techniques, such as modeling, to quantify and capture capability use and employment.
* Identify BD growth and development opportunities.
* Experience of integration strategies and frameworks.
* Hands-on expertise in areas such as Command & Control Defence systems, sensors, communications, encryption, land/maritime/airborne capability.
* Excellent Customer/Stakeholder management skills.
* Proactive implementation of a joint discipline and business-aligned approach for engineering defence solutions.
* Ability to define and realize technical/capability demonstration solutions.
* Support external engagement with travel to customer and supplier meetings.
* Demonstrate role in assuring the initial on-contract phases up to the Systems Design Review.
* Proven line management, technical leadership, and mentoring skills for a minimum of 4 engineers.
