We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Support Assistant to join a team in Northumberland on a full-time, temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in an inclusive and supportive environment. Role Overview: As an SEMH Support Assistant, you will work directly with students who need extra support to manage their emotions, behaviors, and social interactions. Your role will be essential in helping students engage in learning, build resilience, and develop positive behaviors in and outside of the classroom. Key Responsibilities: Provide support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring they have the tools and guidance to succeed Help students manage emotions and behaviors, offering strategies for self-regulation Assist with classroom activities, ensuring students feel supported in their learning Encourage positive social interactions and emotional well-being Work alongside teaching staff to implement behavior management strategies Assist with transitions, lunchtime, and other school activities Track student progress and report concerns or achievements to the teaching team What We Are Looking For: A passion for supporting children with SEMH needs Patience, understanding, and a calm approach when dealing with challenging behavior Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff Flexibility and willingness to learn Previous experience working with children (especially those with SEMH needs) is preferred but not essential Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Why Apply?
