Senior Highway Technician Stockport - Hybrid Permanent £30-35k Salary Position Summary: The Senior Highway Technician performs advanced technical and operational work in the construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of highways and roadway infrastructure. This role involves leading teams, managing projects, conducting quality assurance checks, and ensuring compliance with safety standards, specifications, and government regulations. This position is for working on council or consultancy schemes. Key Responsibilities: Technical Oversight: Conduct site surveys and inspect roadways, bridges, and other infrastructure for maintenance needs and compliance. Review engineering designs, plans, and technical specifications related to highway construction and maintenance projects. Project Leadership & Coordination: Supervise and train junior highway technicians and other support staff. Coordinate daily field operations and prioritize tasks for project completion. Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to timelines, budget, and safety standards. Quality Assurance & Compliance: Perform inspections and testing of materials and construction methods to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications. Ensure projects comply with environmental, health, and safety policies. Maintenance and Repairs: Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs for roadways and related infrastructure. Conduct field investigations to identify the causes of pavement distress or structural issues. Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical reports, inspection records, and other documentation related to highway projects and maintenance work. Analyze data related to road performance and make recommendations for future maintenance or upgrades. Problem-Solving & Analysis: Evaluate technical problems and recommend effective solutions. Utilize technical knowledge and expertise to resolve issues in the field. Collaboration & Communication: Liaise with contractors, engineers, government officials, and other stakeholders.
