Job Summary
The Tritech Institute and Innovation division (part of the Research and Innovation Department at Hywel Dda University Health Board) aims to support the development and evaluation of innovative solutions in healthcare (both technologies and more general innovations). Tritech has a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, scientists and engineers who have a track record of working with companies, academics and innovators to support investigations and evaluations to contribute to benefits for patients, staff and the wider health economy.
The Research and Innovation Associate will be an important member of the team, housed within dedicated facilities, and will be expected to work without supervision. The post holder will be expected to manage a diverse portfolio of work that will include a wide range of different projects. The post holder will work across the health sector liaising and working with people from industry, academia, health and the general public. The research and innovation associate will lead on individual projects within the Tritech Institute and innovation portfolio and will be expected to manage and supervise junior members of the team in the delivery of these projects.
Main Duties of the Job
As a senior member of the Tritech Institute and Innovation team, the Research & Innovation Associate main duties will include:
1. Provide specialist advice to industry partners and healthcare professionals about the design, approvals and conduct of clinical investigations;
2. Develop and support research and innovation studies on behalf of internal and external partners to support the development of research and innovation;
3. Prepare funding bids and collaborations to enable the conduct of clinical investigations;
4. Promote the delivery of the Research Development and Innovation strategy and notably those objectives linked directly to the Tritech department;
5. Contribute to the key performance indicators applying to the research and development department;
6. Lead on the delivery of specific projects, managing and supervising the junior members of the team in achieving the agreed project objectives.

Qualifications
Essential
* Degree
* Masters or equivalent level of experience.
* Ability to design and conduct clinical investigations in support of new technology developments.
* Specialised knowledge of NHS R&D procedures and governance.
* Good knowledge of research development including funding.
* Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
Desirable
* PhD completed or close to completion.
Experience
Essential
* Previous experience in a research environment.
* Previous experience of working with commercial partners, ideally around the development of new technologies and devices.
* Experience of working with the NHS and universities.
* Experience of clinical research study management.
* Proven track record of obtaining funding for research or contributing to funding bids.
Other
* Ability to travel to different locations within the Health Board in a timely manner.
* Flexible approach to the needs of the service.
