This is a time of significant change for the Social Work Service in Dumfries & Galloway and the Health & Social Care Sector generally.
An opportunity has arisen for a Social Work Team Manager within Home Teams. You will be responsible for the management of the Integrated Flow Team which covers DGRI/Community Hospitals, as well as the Physical Disability team.
You will be a qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 3 years practice. You will manage professionally qualified staff, supporting the planning and delivery of Social Work Services, on a single and multi-agency/disciplinary basis, across Dumfries and Galloway.
You will be committed to the development of the service and to producing the best possible outcomes for our service users in partnership with relevant stakeholders. You will have an excellent knowledge of Adult Services legislation and an understanding of the main strategic and policy developments, as well as Council policies and procedures across Social Work Services. In addition to this it is essential you have excellent communication skills, an understanding of business systems and competence in the use of computers.
You will also have good organisational and administrative skills, be able to build and sustain professional relationships across all of our partner agencies and be able to work productively and effectively in a team context. You will have a clear understanding of the impact of disability on our service users and their Carers and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of advocacy services.
Finally, you will be able to demonstrate high levels of self-motivation and initiative allied to strong professional integrity and a commitment to working as a member of the management team. You will need to think creatively and innovatively and be flexible in your approach, as well as being accountable for your own work and that of your team.

Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. From 28 February, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
You will also need to be registered with the SSSC and a current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
