Our client is a global leader in high-precision manufacturing for the semiconductor and geological science industries. Recent investment has been made in new production systems to support their future growth, which has resulted in a vacancy for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.
Position Overview
Based on the outskirts of Glasgow, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join this market-leading precision materials technology company. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this position will be responsible for:
1. Devising and developing new products and modifying existing designs in partnership with their electrical and electronic engineers.
2. Producing accurate detailed design documentation using 3D CAD to allow for manufacturing and assembly, ensuring legal compliance.
3. Building and testing prototypes.
4. Identifying and evaluating new materials, methods, and suppliers.
5. Improving product quality.
6. Conducting calculations to ensure product safety prior to assembly.
7. Providing cross-functional technical support.
Ideal Skills and Qualifications
1. Qualified to degree level or similar in a Mechanical Design or Product Design Engineering discipline.
2. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical design role.
3. Experience of designing within a high-value, low-volume manufacturing environment.
4. Experience in the design of electro-pneumatic and electro-mechanical systems.
5. Substantial 3D CAD experience, preferably with SolidWorks.
6. Proven problem-solving skills.
7. Able to work with a cross-functional team.
