At a time of consistent growth within our pharmaceutical solutions business, we have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer.
Job Purpose:
To provide the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, complex manufacturing operations and sophisticated machines.
Duties will include:
1. Function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering, releasing, machine shop, assembly, etc. wherever a specific technical assignment may be needed.
2. Work assignments may be specialized in nature but may also be broad based with coordination between other staff personnel to complete a larger project.
3. Develops, analyses and manages Manufacturing/Assembly Projects.
4. Assists in developing department capital and expense budgets.
5. Maintains the department capital forecast.
6. Trains new processors and develops training programs for Process Operators.
7. Engages in creative problem solving to address operational issues including: ergonomic/safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, quality concerns.
8. Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
9. Designs, develops and implements the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation and systems application.
10. Coordinates, plans, monitors and reports the activities associated with the flow analysis, design, financial modelling and implementation of complex manufacturing group technology cells in an assigned area.
11. Provides manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification.
12. Coordinates the corporate manufacturing and office space utilization and assists in preparation of business proposals for rearrangements or additions or complete new facilities that are being proposed to ensure proper utilization of space.
13. Coordinates the purchase and application of machine tools, controls and related equipment corporate wide to ensure the latest technology is being used to increase efficiencies and economy of operations.
14. Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.
15. To be responsible for the protection and well-being of other company personnel and minimise environmental impact.
Applicants must possess:
Essential Criteria
1. Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering related discipline or equivalent of education and experience enough to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
2. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts, heat treat operations, etc., gained through acquisition of an appropriate technical or university degree combined with a minimum of 2 years of appropriate manufacturing experience or a minimum of 2 years as a Manufacturing Engineer 2, or appropriate equivalent experience.
3. Demonstrated skills in technical innovation, technical leadership.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Technical problem-solving abilities.
6. Excellent PC skills.
7. Project-management skills.
Desirable Criteria
1. Knowledge/Training in continuous improvement concepts: Lean, Six Sigma, OEE, etc.
2. A good working knowledge and understanding of GMP practices and FDA regulations.
