Main duties of the job
The East Learning Disability Team offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Worker to join us in a permanent role. This part-time position (28 hours) is based at Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely, with the option for home working as part of a hybrid role.
The Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership (LDP) unites specialist health and social care services for people with learning disabilities. The LDP commissions and provides these services on behalf of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and Cambridgeshire County Council.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Job responsibilities
Senior Social Workers play a pivotal role within the team. You will work with adults with a Learning Disability who have care and support needs, along with their informal or formal carers, to help them meet their outcomes. You will manage complex cases, including complex safeguarding enquiries, deprivation of liberty applications, and other court of protection work.
We depend on our Senior Social Workers to provide crucial leadership in our most challenging cases, setting clear examples for less experienced team members. You will exemplify the high standards we expect in every case, ensuring that every service user's needs are met with proactive and personalised care.
Effective assessment and support planning in complex cases are crucial, and you will take the lead in these situations. You will liaise with colleagues and third parties to ensure appropriate and effective action is taken. You will monitor and evaluate the support provided to service users, continually looking for ways to innovate in care delivery where it benefits the service user.
You will provide line management, support, and guidance to the wider team. You will support the development of others while having opportunities to further your own skills and knowledge.
Your leadership role will also include supervising the practice and performance of social workers and adult support coordinators in the team. Using your experience, you will be a creative coach in supervision, enable practice improvements, and provide valuable feedback through staff appraisals.
This role isn't just about delivering care; it's about providing service users with choice and control over their lives and empowering independence.
About you
We are looking for applicants who have a Social Work qualification and are 2 years post completion of the ASYE programme. Experience of providing line management support, making Safeguarding Personal investigations, completing complex case work, including Court of Protection Deprivation of Liberty applications, and experience of using Mosaic database would be desirable.
You will be able to work autonomously, as well as supporting other team members as part of multi-disciplinary working with health and social care colleagues.
