Virtual School Education Advisor
Salary - Grade 10 £50,512- £54,762

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated professional to join Sunderland’s well-regarded Virtual School Team, part of Together for Children’s outstanding education directorate.
We are seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated professional who will support the Virtual School Headteacher to ensure the Local Authority meets all priorities and statutory responsibilities in the promotion of education for our most vulnerable children and young people.
The Virtual School have an experienced team who are passionate about ensuring vulnerable children and young people receive an education which meets their individual needs and works effectively with our partners to raise aspirations, educational standards, promote inclusion and wellbeing, and improve the life chances of our young people.
Successful candidates will have experience and confidence in working with senior leaders in schools, partners in social care and young people and their carers, to promote educational outcomes for children in our care, those previously in our care, those with a kinship carer and all children with a social worker.
You will be expected to
Provide leadership and management of the education advice, training and awareness raising programme for schools and other professionals to improve inclusion, progress and attainment.
Use data and other intelligence to promote positive outcomes for all children with a social worker, co-ordinating the academic intervention program and providing the support and professional challenge to schools where outcomes could be improved.
Liaise with multi-disciplinary agencies and parent/carers to ensure advice and guidance around appropriate and quality education provision achieves the best outcomes for vulnerable children.
The Virtual School team safeguards and protects its children and staff by being committed to respond in accordance with the Together for Children’s Safeguarding Policies.
This position requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. As part of statutory guidance contained in Keep Children Safe in Education (September 2022) TfC will be conducting online searches of shortlisted applicants.
