Summary
The Applications Engineer II provides technical sales support for all applications encompassing metrology, demonstration, functionality, and performance. In addition, responsible for quoting and managing contract programming tasks and performing product training. The ideal candidate would be located in the South East United States; Florida, Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina or South Carolina. The ideal candidate would also have experience with special analyzer experience, laser tracker, portable metrology software or 3D metrology software. Job Responsibilities
1. Conduct basic hardware and software product and intermediate custom demonstrations showcasing technical features and processes to prospective and existing customers
2. Effectively communicate product benefits for complex applications
3. Assist regional sales team in providing product recommendations for customers’ applications
4. Prepare operating instructions and conduct training programs to meet customer’s needs
5. Maintain positive customer relationships through effective interaction
6. Ability to teach a Level II training class
7. Prepare detailed technical specifications for quotations
8. Develop programs/applications that effectively accomplish customer specifications/objectives
9. Manage minor programming and turnkey projects with little to no guidance
10. Consult with customers and incorporate needs and feedback into application designs
11. Provide technical support to customers
12. Ensure programs/applications work properly after maintenance and testing
13. Analyze and edit existing programs/applications as needed to optimize performance
14. Take a challenging issue from problem statement through to resolution and follow-up
15. Keep up with advancements in application engineering and new technologies
16. Collaborate with engineering and marketing groups on product development projects
17. Learn from and study experienced Applications Engineers’ techniques and work
18. Remain current with skills by attending training classes, independent research, and seminars as needed
19. Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
2. Comfortable speaking before small groups
3. Proficient with MS Office
4. Strong Customer Service Skills
5. Creative, analytical, and driven
6. Works under general direction as well as in a team environment
7. Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience
8. 2-6 years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or similar environment
