Integrated Care Assistant - Marigold Ward

An exciting opportunity in the Meadow Court Stroke Unit (Marigold Ward) at Goodmayes Hospital has arisen for dynamic, innovative and motivated full-time Integrated Care Assistants (ICA's). The role involves supporting inpatient nurses to provide a high standard of nursing for stroke rehabilitation patients. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a registered nurse and will develop and undertake a range of delegated tasks independently while adhering to North East London Foundation Trust's policies and local policies.
Main Duties of the Job
You will administer holistic care to patients in the stroke rehabilitation inpatient setting, identifying and reporting any changes in patient care needs to the nursing staff. The post holder will work as a member of the integrated health and social care team to ensure high-quality nursing service provision.
You will demonstrate flexibility, good communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member as well as using your own initiative. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical skills. Post holders must have an NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care / Care certificate and demonstrate a commitment to further learning and development.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. New starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High-Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735).
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
* To be responsible for organising and prioritising own delegated workload.
* To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling.
* To provide accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
* To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk, and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
* To plan and organise own delegated work.
* To identify and report any changes in patient care needs or changes in physical or emotional well-being to the MDT leads.
* To maintain accurate records, recording new problems as they are identified and reporting all actions taken to the MDT.
* To act as the patient's advocate and, by providing information and support, facilitate the patient's own choices regarding personal care, promoting independence and self-care as appropriate.
* To be skilled in communication, establishing and maintaining good relationships with patients, carers, and members of the MDT.
* To maintain, update, and develop personal, professional knowledge and skills achieving high standards of patient care at all times.
* To undertake specific nursing and therapy tasks following completion of theoretical training and acquisition of competency.
* To maintain confidentiality in all dealings with patients and their records.
* To offer support and teach patients, relatives, and other carers appropriate skills, imparting knowledge to promote positive health.
* To have knowledge of and effectively use available resources.
* To participate in the support of student nurses and new staff in the locality.
* To undertake training that will lead to new skills being developed.
