Principal Engineer (Software Support)
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Brough, or Filton (Hybrid)
Salary: £47,000 - £55,000

What You Will Be Doing
As a Principal Engineer, responsibilities include:
* Analyzing software products (COTS, bespoke, modified COTS) to develop effective support strategies using established processes.
* Reviewing software documentation to produce system-level software support case reports with clear, actionable recommendations.
* Supporting stakeholder engagement by attending collaboration working groups to provide maintenance design input.
* Offering software subject matter expertise to the wider ILS community and facilitating the alignment of software analysis outputs with other stakeholders' deliverables.
What You'll Bring
Essential Skills and Experience:
* A degree or equivalent experience in the software support discipline.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Exceptional IT skills and the ability to navigate complex software support challenges to identify critical issues.
Desirable Skills:
* Knowledge of JSP 935, DefStan 00-055, IEC 61508, and DLF SSE GP.2.11.
