We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Lead Hand to join our Maintenance Team based at our site in Glenrothes. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Position Summary:
To support the manufacturing function in repair and maintenance of machines by prioritising and allocating appropriate resource as agreed with the plant lead and to develop and implement planned preventative maintenance. This role will be responsible for day-to-day control of the workload, safety and safe systems of work on site for the staff in their area of responsibility.
Essential Functions:
* Drive and maintain PUWER, H&S and Environmental responsibilities, monitoring adherence as they pertain to the maintenance function and ensure all staff work in a safe and secure manner for both themselves and other factory personnel.
* To promote and develop effective communications within their team, across teams and across functions.
* Maintain and promote proper use of computerised maintenance management software system, ensuring all interventions are properly logged and reported and actions can be traced historically.
* Support PPM performance and fault capture in addition to assisting with the update of SOPs and safe systems of work.
* Lead your team in the completion of all planned maintenance events to the correct technical and housekeeping standards.
* React promptly to machines in breakdown and to changing production needs.
* Where possible, respond to call outs as required and be available to advise on-shift staff when needed.
* To support Continuous Improvement activities within the factory aimed at improving processes and workplace organisation.
* Contact suppliers to ensure parts are ordered and expedited where required.
* To act as PoC for maintenance during weekdays and act as PoC for the Factory for weekend shifts.
* To be fully conversant with the emergency procedures within their area and for out of hours and their role and that of their team, within these procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Effectively lead a team of 2 shift Technicians acting as a supervisor, coach and mentor; assist with the training and evaluation of team members; prioritise daily workload, shift break management.
* Proactively communicate and provide updates to the Equipment Reliability Engineers and/ or Maintenance Manager on all of the previously mentioned assignments as required.
* As Maintenance Shift Lead, work hand in hand with the Production Manager and Plant Leads to ensure the best possible success of meeting daily Production goals/ objectives and provide cover for Plant Lead where required.
* Provide cover for HSEF Manager on Nightshifts/ weekends and during absences in terms of Site security i.e building lock up/ opening and any other Site security requirements.
* Be the ‘responsible person’ and key contact during weekend working hours.
* Be committed to continuous improvement, multi-skilling of team members, proactive maintenance management and proactively encourage and drive preventative maintenance.
* This position requires the job holder to possess excellent maintenance skills and have a good working knowledge of reliability processes and procedures. The job holder must have the ability to operate on their own initiative but also contribute as a team member working with M&E Maintenance Technicians.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience:
* Education: Minimum academic qualification of time served apprenticeship, ONC, HNC preferred. Proof will be required.
* Experience:
o Extensive experience of working in a multi skilled manufacturing maintenance role
o Must have time served experience. Proof will be required
o Experience in Cable/ Fibre Optic Industry highly desirable
* Skills:
o Highly motivated, goal driven, and action orientated.
o Ability to coach, counsel and lead a team of people.

o Ability to apply safe systems of work (Lock off/isolation).
o Proficient in the use of computer-based systems, specifically in recording fault information, task times and parts usage.

o Knowledge and experience of welding/burning, machining, pipe work and fitting.
o Understanding and experience of routine 'preventative' maintenance.
o Ability to demonstrate a 'high' level of health, safety and environmental culture.
o A self-motivated drive to deliver improvements across the manufacturing process and environmental systems.
o A high level of experience working with Permits to Work, risk assessments and safe working procedures.
o Demonstrated experience of working alone and in a team.
o Awareness and understanding of Condition Based Monitoring.

o Excellent oral and written communication skills.

o Strong MS Office.
