Job Description
Qualified Senior Social Worker, St Helens Council, Children's Duty Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team.
The team works extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Children's services are currently expanding to assist in stabilising caseloads.
2. Experience of managing duty work.
3. Skills in undertaking assessment and planning for children with a view to establishing the nature of risk to be able to transfer cases appropriately either to early help or child protection.
4. Work is fast-paced; the social workers will need excellent communication skills, with experience of managing section 47 enquiries and partnership working.
5. This will be a new team, and the social workers will be supported by a team manager and advanced practitioner. The duty social workers will be expected to undertake duty work within a 4-week cycle.
6. Require excellent organisational skills to ensure their caseloads do not stagnate in order to ensure an effective cycle of duty.
7. Experience of working directly with children and families and chairing meetings.
8. 37 hours per week (flexible by negotiation).
9. 3-month Temporary Contract.
10. Start date subject to DBS and reference clearance.

The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent, must be registered with the HCPC, have a current DBS, and be a car driver.
