We are recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join the joint venture responsible for the construction and delivery of HS2’s Old Oak Common station in North West London. The circa £1bn project will include the delivery of six underground platforms as well as up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line.
Reporting into the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting the project team, supply chain and others to manage quality assurance.
Duties
* Support development, documentation and ongoing maintenance of the Quality (& Construction Assurance)
* Plan (supported by the QCAH Manager and other team members) to meet relevant requirements (including ISO 9001) and associated procedures
* Provide appropriate input and support for development and ongoing maintenance of other plans & procedures
* Contribute to development and maintenance of a risk-based audit schedule
* Support the Quality Manager and QCAH Manager to ensure a specific, relevant, and comprehensive set of subcontract requirements relevant to quality and construction assurance have been incorporated within each tender package.
* Provide appropriate and proactive support working collaboratively with the project team, suppliers and others to ensure requirements have been met and authorisation can be given for works to commence by the required date. This includes development and agreement by relevant parties of suitably comprehensive Inspection & Test Plans and corresponding items (e.g. checklists).
* Work collaboratively with the Project Team, suppliers and other interested parties to maintain the system of progressive assurance for the works including benchmarking, inspection, and documentation.
* Champion implementation and enforcement of the Quality Procedures (including Quality Control system).
* Complete detailed investigations with respect to quality incidents to determine the facts and root cause(s) including issue of corresponding report and associated recommendations.
* Support the project team in dealing with external auditing governing bodies to maintain relevant certification.
* Support development and implementation of the platforms (e.g. Business Collaborator) used for day to day management of the IMS.
Person Specification
* Practical experience in quality management within the construction industry, preferably in a project-based organisation.
* Technical knowledge and experience relevant to one of the following areas: FRC works, structural steel, fit-out, MEPH.
