Role Summary:
The purpose of the Fundraising Assistant role is to support the charity's fundraising team in delivering effective campaigns and initiatives that generate vital income to support the organisation’s strategy. This includes providing administrative support, assisting with donor engagement, managing databases, and contributing to events and campaigns that inspire public and corporate giving.
The role will involve building and maintaining positive relationships with donors, supporters, and partners, ensuring all interactions reflect the charity’s values. Working alongside the Fundraising Manager, the Fundraising Assistant will play a key role in maximising fundraising opportunities and sustaining the charity’s impact.
Key Responsibilities:
* Administrative Support
* Maintain and update the charity’s fundraising database with donor details, contributions, and communications.
* Prepare and distribute fundraising materials and correspondence.
* Manage incoming fundraising enquiries, ensuring prompt and professional responses.
* Campaign Support
* Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of fundraising campaigns and events.
* Liaise with suppliers, venues, and volunteers to ensure smooth execution of events.
* Track the performance of fundraising initiatives and provide data for analysis.
* Donor Engagement
* Support the stewardship of donors, including sending thank-you letters, receipts, and regular updates on the charity’s activities and impact.
* Identify opportunities to enhance donor retention and develop new relationships with potential supporters.
* Assist in the development of creative and engaging content to communicate with donors via newsletters, social media, and email campaigns.
* Research and Development
* Research potential funding opportunities, including grants, corporate partnerships, and community fundraising prospects.
* Support applications for grants and funding bids by gathering relevant data and supporting documentation.
* Event Coordination
* Assist with organising fundraising events, including logistics, invitations, and promotional activities.
* Support on-the-day event management, ensuring everything runs smoothly and provide assistance to participants and attendees.
* Compliance and Reporting
* Ensure all fundraising activities adhere to charity laws, fundraising regulations, and best practices.
* Keep accurate records and provide regular reports to the Fundraising Manager on income, donor trends, and campaign performance.
* Marketing
* Contribute with marketing; including social media, using Canva to create designs as required.
* Work closely with other teams to align fundraising activities with the charity’s wider goals.
* Act as a key point of contact for volunteers and supporters involved in fundraising efforts.
Personal Specification:
Experience:
* Experience in a fundraising role.
* Experience working in a community service or nonprofit setting.
* Familiarity with managing sensitive client information in compliance with confidentiality policies.
* Resilience to challenging client interactions and working with vulnerable individuals.
* Knowledge of fundraising regulations.
* Experience with Canva, Hootsuite, Google Analytics & WordPress.
* Experience working with CRM systems and client management tools.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed working practices.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and professionally at all levels.
* Skilled in managing and organising data entry and record-keeping.

Other Requirements:
* The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and satisfactory references.
* Willingness to work unsociable hours (such as evenings and weekends) where needed, to support fundraising events.
