We have an exciting opportunity for a Early Days in Custody Clinical Lead to join our Primary Careteam at HMP Altcourse, a category BPrison located in Fazerkley, Liverpool.
HMP Altcourse is a male prison that has a capacity for 1164 inmates that offers rehabilitation, education and resettlement services. This role is to join the Early Days in Custody team which looks after the patients for the first 10 days withing the prison. You must have prison nursing experience for this role.
Hours
This will be a mixture of early and late shifts (no nights)
This position is full time,youll receive an annual salary from49848.75 up to55996.24per annum- depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Early Days in Custody Clinical Lead, your responsibilities will vary. You will
* As the Early Days in Custody Practitioner, your responsibilities will include ensuring patients have medical plans of care, assessing patients and carrying out relevant clinical investigations during their arrival, along with arranging follow-up appointments for them whilst offering advice and giving information.
* You must be able to clinically evaluate and ensure the safe transfer ofpatients to acute hospitals if needed, as well as ensuring that plans of care are understood by thepatient and the prison as appropriate. You'll be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinicaldecision making.
* As part of your role you will support in undertaking audits & governance.
* You will provide healthcare to patients on site in the healthcare unit. This will include some emergency care such as suturing, providing emergency response toundertaking dressings and performing a primary care function.
* You will leada team of healthcare practitioners some in specialist roles to deliver an effective safe medical servicewithin the prison.

Qualifications required
* Registered nurse Adult or Paramedic
* Prison nursing experience - Essential
* Current professional qualification (NMC or HCPC)
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
* Understanding of audit and datix.
