The role: We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Project Engineer to join our Project Management team working in a technically demanding and fast moving project based business. The Project Management team provides coordinated delivery of integrated products for the offshore, marine, oil & gas, renewable and defence markets. You will be responsible for: Supporting the delivery of projects in line with the contractual obligations, the specification and the quality/safety requirements. Taking responsibility for the planning, prioritising and expediting of elements of the project, including engineering design, procurement, production, commissioning, acceptance and delivery. Co-ordinating purchasing activities, liaising with QA to ensure ITP requirements are met in-line with the project schedule. Compiling and collating project documentation including project management process documents, technical / procurement specifications, progress reports, final documentation packs etc. Supporting the configuration management, risk management and cost control processes. Job requirements: Excellent understanding of the application of mechanical engineering (or other discipline) in the offshore, marine, oil & gas, renewable and/or defence sectors. Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g. APM, PRINCE 2). Proven track record of working within a project team that has successfully delivered complex EPC projects in the offshore, marine, oil & gas, renewable and/or defence markets. Excellent planning and configuration management skills. Good understanding of the construct of contracts and terms & conditions. Experience of identifying, drafting and agreeing contract amendments / VORs. Proven track record of successful management of multiple key suppliers / sub-contracts. Excellent communicator for written, verbal and presentation skills. Driven and motivated with high energy levels to direct the project team and its stakeholders. Self-starter, initiative taker and problem solver who can work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate would also have: Experience in Engineering/PM of complex design and build projects to clients globally. Membership of a recognised engineering body (e.g. IMechE). Qualifications/formal PM training e.g. PRINCE2, APM. Proficient user of software tools including Planning (e.g. MSP, Primavera), ERP/MRP (e.g. IFS,SAP), PDM (e.g. TeamCenter) and MS Office including SharePoint. Project Start Up Accountability : Identify and analyze required project results, based on defined scope, quality criteria, lead time and project calculation, set up the project according to the IHC Project Management Methodology, set up Project Management Structure to determine project approach and prepare Project Initiation phase. Result : Project scope, approach and objectives are clear, attainable, in line with OSBIT, embedded in the PID and is input for the Project Initiation phase and Project Execution phase and the Project Management Structure is in place. 2. Project Initiation Accountability : Complete the project initiation document (PID), including underlying plans, setup project controls, update final budget and required resources based on the Project Approach and final customer contract and prepare execution of the project and obtain project board approval for the Project Initiation Document (PID). Result : Approved PID, containing underlying plans (AO integrated project planning) and project controls, so that the project is ready for execution. 3. Project execution Accountability : Manage, monitor and drive project activities, manage project risks and resources in line with the IHC Project Management Methodology and OSBIT and take corrective actions when necessary. Result : (Partial) project results and final project results are delivered within OSBIT and in line with the IHC Project Management Methodology and product has been handed over to and accepted by the customer and project is ready to be closed. 4. Change Order Management Accountability : Manage changes and demarcations in the scope of the project, redefine project scope and demarcations and negotiate the financial, timeliness and qualitative impact on the project with the customer or other relevant stakeholders. Result : Change order and/or demarcation is approved by the customer and/or other relevant stakeholders and is ready for execution. 5. Project Registration Accountability : Ensure registration of relevant project information such as reports, schedules and logs in line with document filing structure. Result : Mandatory project documentation is available and can be used to inform stakeholders. 6. Project closure Accountability : Evaluate and close project, identify and analyze lessons learned, archive project documents and hand over project to customer. Result : Completion of project objectives, continuous improvement of (comparable) project management and acceptance of end product by customer. 7. Relations management Accountability : Build, maintain and utilize a network of in- and external stakeholders / partners and represent the project within the organization, is single point of contact for all project related issues towards customer and other stakeholders. Result : Network is sustainable and accessible and contributes to project success. 8. Steering information Accountability : Provide insights regarding quantitative and qualitative developments by means of periodical and ad hoc reports and/or analyses, as per the IHC Project Management Methodology. Result : Project information enables management and/or other stakeholders to make (timely) decisions and determine or adjust project plan. 9. People management Accountability : Manage, coach and engage the Project (Management) Team, motivate employees through teambuilding, feedback, stimulate team and Line cooperation, utilizing the instruments, service and procedures. Result : Personnel is engaged, deployable (quantitatively and qualitatively) and is willing to and capable of realizing the set objectives, ensuring the right person is available to do the job. 10. SHEQ Accountability : Behave in line with safety rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines, and awareness, including addressing anomalies to others. Result : Unsafe situations, incidents and damages are avoided.
