Deputy Financial Controller

Have you got significant experience in external reporting and financial accounting within a large business? Are you a fully qualified accountant with strong knowledge of IFRS and ability to provide technical accounting advice? If so, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for a Deputy Financial Controller to join the group finance team.
About the Role
Reporting into the Financial Controller you will assist with all aspects of Financial Reporting for the business ensuring accuracy and transparency in compliance with IFRS.
You will also:
• Oversee the UK External Reporting, UK Assets and Ledgers Teams, UK Finance Shared Services and Knowledge Management Teams.
• Continue to drive the improvement in the controls culture and environment in relation to Royal Mail UK.
• Act as a trusted business partner to key stakeholders within the wider finance teams (Operations, Commercial, Central Functions) to ensure accuracy of the numbers.
• Deliver the UK component of the Group External Financial Statements including disclosures in the Group Annual Report and Accounts.
• Manage the UK statutory accounts and regulatory accounts process including external audit sign off.
• Oversee the coordination and execution of the UK audit process to Group timetable liaising with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit cycle.
About You
To truly excel in this role, you will possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and ability to provide technical accounting advice.
• Experience of Defined Benefit Pension Schemes Accounting is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls
• Knowledge of SAP or equivalent system
