This role is a permanent position within a team responsible for ensuring safety, health, and environmental standards during the construction and delivery of Nuclear Submarines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Providing timely and consistent advice, support, coaching, and governance of SHE standards and legislation.
2. Supporting the development and embedding of an improved safety culture within the Submarines business.
3. Leading and delivering key risk reduction and improvement projects and activities.
4. Ensuring professional and accountable interface with all stakeholders, including functional leads, regulators, contractors, and customers.
5. Ensuring the delivery of all applicable aspects of the Safety, Health, and Environment Operational Plan and Strategy.
6. Supporting audits and accident/near-miss investigations, producing comprehensive reports with root cause analysis.
7. Providing governance and assurance to contractor activities on-site.
Job Requirements:
1. Experience in managing Health and Safety risks and processes in a high-risk environment supporting contractor activities on site.
2. Competence with CDM regulations 2015.
3. Ability to interpret and apply formal regulations, approved codes of practice, and guidance including SHE regulations.
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder interaction, report writing, and investigative skills.
5. Proven ability to drive a safety culture.
6. Experience with IT systems such as MS Office packages.
Essential Qualifications:
1. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
2. NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or equivalent.
