Description
There has never been a better time to join our team at Torbay Council Engineering Department. We have a great opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Civil and Structural Engineering Team.
We are looking to recruit someone who has a good knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit structural detailing of structural reinforced concrete and structural steelwork construction, as well as a good understanding of Part A of the Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes relevant to civil/structural engineering.
Your role will see you assist the engineers in managing the projects and interact with contractors on site, having the ability to deal tactfully with people of all ages and backgrounds.
This post requires a Standard Criminal Level Check. This will show details of all spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions that have not been filtered in line with legislation.
Skills
Essential:
1. Skilled in the use of AutoCAD and/or Revit structural detailing software.
2. ICT skills including using Microsoft packages and competent in the use of Microsoft Teams.
Knowledge
Essential:
1. Detailed knowledge of structural detailing in all principal building materials, including concrete, steel, masonry and timber.
2. Knowledge and understanding of Part A of the Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes relevant to civil/structural engineering.
3. Capability to coordinate the preparation of general arrangement drawings, construction sections and specifications for a diverse range of civil/structural engineering schemes to values up to £10m for Planning, Building Regulations, Tender and Construction purposes under the supervision of the Engineers.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
1. Experience of formally responding to contractor RFI's (Requests for Information) on live construction projects.
2. Experience of representing the engineering team at progress meetings and design team meetings, with the support of senior colleagues, where required on more complex projects.
3. Qualification HNC, HND or BTEC/NVQ level 4 in a construction related subject (or able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience).
