Role Overview: As a Video Editor, you will be a key player in crafting compelling video content for our news, sport, showbiz, TV and Fabulous content strands that drives views and engagement across digital platforms. You will work closely with journalists, producers, and the social team to quickly create videos optimised for maximum traffic, with a focus on page views and YouTube plays. Your role will be central to our daily video output, editing both breaking news and longer-format stories to captivate and inform our growing digital audience. Key Responsibilities: • Video Editing & Production : Edit daily video content for our news, sport, showbiz, TV and Fabulous content strands in a quick and efficient manner. This will vary from short clips to longer-form stories, ensuring high editorial quality and fast turnaround. • Platform-Specific Optimization : Tailor content for multiple platforms, particularly YouTube, our website, and social media channels, optimising for views, shares, and overall audience engagement. • Breaking News : Work efficiently with Senior News Video Editors to produce high-quality, engaging video content for breaking news stories, ensuring rapid turnaround without sacrificing editorial integrity. • Collaboration : Work closely with journalists, video producers, and social media teams to understand the editorial direction and ensure video content supports wider newsroom goals. • SEO & YouTube Best Practices : Implement SEO strategies and metadata management for videos to ensure maximum discoverability and ranking on YouTube and search engines. • Audience Engagement : Stay on top of what drives audience interest online and incorporate that knowledge into video edits, optimising content for clicks, views, and engagement. • Graphics & Visual Enhancements : Enhance videos with necessary graphics, lower thirds, captions, and animations to increase visual appeal and engagement. • Data-Driven Decisions : Use data and analytics to inform editing choices, continually refining content to improve performance across platforms.
