Job overview
This post is for up to one year, to cover maternity leave. It is suitable for an individual seeking experience in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the equivalent of ST6-8 level or someone post CCT looking to complement their existing training.
Main duties of the job
Research: The Brompton has an active research department and links with Imperial College London. This role will also, for part of the week, support recruitment and sample collection for a number of research studies and will be a good opportunity to increase clinical research exposure. A research project can be identified during the time of the post if the candidate wishes.
Clinical: Clinically, the role will provide cover to the routine clinical activities of the department, including rotating through cover of our specialist inpatient ward, supported training in sleep medicine, respiratory PICU and bronchoscopy, and attendance at regular specialist respiratory clinics including CF, PCD, and difficult asthma. Attendance at least 2 clinics per week. On call 1 in 7. Attendance and presentation at departmental teaching and research meetings. Other duties will, for example, include:
On Call: The fellow shares the managerial responsibility for their own rotas. The post is compliant with the European Working Time Directive. On call rota is non-shift 1 in 7 (from home) with prospective cover.
