Axel Monroe are delighted to be exclusively partnering a good FMCG client of ours, in their search for an International Sales Director. Our client has been on a phenomenal growth trajectory since their inception, with a very impressive turnover and an even more impressive EBITDA number. Their sales to date have largely been achieved through their E-comm/D2C offering, which has led them to identify the opportunity to recruit an experienced Sales Director to further enhance their retail presence.
Reporting into the CEO, this is a high-impact role where you will be responsible for building and executing the business' retail sales strategy, forging partnerships with key retailers, and increasing their market share in the consumer goods space they operate within.
What You'll Be Doing:
Retail Strategy & Expansion
* Develop and execute a comprehensive retail sales strategy to drive brand awareness and revenue growth.
* Identify and prioritize retail opportunities, from major national retailers (e.g., supermarkets, department stores) to independent and specialty stores.
* Define and implement pricing, promotions, and distribution strategies that maximize profitability and market penetration.
Business Development & Account Management
* Pitch and secure listings with major UK and international retailers, negotiating favorable terms and agreements.
* Develop strong relationships with retail buyers and category managers to ensure their products are well-positioned and promoted effectively.
* Work with retailers to secure premium shelf space, planograms, and merchandising strategies that enhance visibility and sales performance.
* Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation and negotiations to onboarding and long-term account growth.
Sales Performance & Revenue Growth
* Set and own revenue targets, ensuring consistent growth in the retail sector.
* Monitor sell-through rates, stock levels, and replenishment cycles, working closely with supply chain and logistics to meet demand.
* Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to refine retail strategies and identify new opportunities.
* Implement and track KPIs for sales performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize revenue streams.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing retail sales team as the business scales.
* Work closely with marketing and branding teams to develop retail-specific campaigns, including point-of-sale (POS) displays, promotions, and in-store activations.
* Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure seamless distribution, stock availability, and retail partner satisfaction.
Our client have purposefully not attached a specific salary range to this position, as they are truly seeking to find the right individual who will elevate them to the next phase in their growth objectives.
