Assistant Driver Manager- Derby (12m Contract) - Derby We are looking for an Assistant Driver Manager to join the team at Derby on a 12 month Secondment/Fixed Term Contract. As a line manager for the drivers, you will require leadership skills and an ability to motivate the team to deliver professional standards at all times. You will need to be accountable for the team achieving the set standards and targets. You will be expected to demonstrate a real commitment and innovative thinking to help deliver ever-higher standards within the Drivers’ function. Alongside your initiative and positive, proactive, professional approach, your most important asset is your ability to manage people. This includes effective coaching and communicating, developing the strengths of each team member, as well as creating opportunities for them to make a positive contribution. You will be the first point of call for performance and non-technical issues within your team. This leadership role is in the non-technical element of the driver managements’ responsible for systems accuracy, performance management and improvement. You will be working alongside the Driver Team Managers within your region and may be required to work and liaise with other roles within the business. This role requires a ‘hands on’ approach coupled with an ability to manage effectively from a distance. You must be willing to take action when objectives and targets are not met. Whatever difficulties your team may face - it’s imperative that you are capable of making firm decisions to achieve our business objectives. There is a requirement for this position to be committed and flexible to cover at other depots and work some weekends. There is no requirement for applicants to be qualified as a train driver.
