Ensure all aspects of Quality Assurance are maintained to an excellent standard throughout the factory. Responsibility for the factory Quality & Food Safety Systems and for determining that quality, safety and legality is met at each stage of the process by liaising effectively with all employees.
Ensure all external and internal requirements are met before our product reaches our customer and be responsible for inspecting procedures and processes to identifying issues & areas for improvement.
Main Duties:
* Ensure that the Company Quality & Food Safety System, Policies, Procedures and Standards meet all safety, legality and quality requirements.
* Co-ordinate and assist with BRC unannounced audit preparation ensuring the site is audit ready at all times. Lead and represent the Company in BRC and other external audits.
* Ensure that the appropriate assessments are carried out on raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products to ensure compliance with the relevant specifications and to make decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products.
* Ensure that Factory rules regarding Personal and Food Hygiene along with Food Safety Regulations are enforced.
* Effectively develop the culture within operational teams, with focus on 100% adherence to the business plans and objectives.
* Advise and consult with all relevant parties within the business, including suppliers and others, concerning safety, legality and quality issues.
* Lead, co-ordinate and carry out internal audits and corrective action close outs
* Provide technical advice and expertise in the assessment of new suppliers, raw materials, product complaint investigations and troubleshooting as well as establishing, maintaining and improving supplier relationships and working with suppliers to improve the materials in terms of cost, safety, legality and quality.
* Develop, train, implement and periodically audit the Quality & Food Safety System procedures. These systems will include the site Quality & Food Safety Manual; HACCP Procedures; Quality & Food Safety Procedures; Work Instructions; Product Specifications; Ingredient Specifications and forms as appropriate.
* Escort and assist with external body communications and visits to site.
* Liaise with the Management Team regarding action arising from information concerning safety, legality and quality from internal and external audits, laboratories, consumer complaints and other sources and to advise senior management and operatives accordingly in these areas.
* Develop robust interface/communication lines between Quality Team and other departments.
* Keep abreast of all current Technical Information, pertaining to a food-manufacturing environment and all associated with it.
* Act as a HACCP team member, to drive food safety standards within the company.
* Be responsible for the development of the Quality Department.
* It is the duty of all employees to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are maintained at all times.
Person Specification:
* A degree or equivalent in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology or a related subject is desirable.
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Quality Manager or Technical role with a minimum of 1 year of managerial experience in a food manufacturing environment.
* Level 3 in Food Safety and Level 3 HACCP.
* Internal Auditor Training.
* Be able to effectively influence the decision of Management and Directors which may affect the safety or legal compliance of products.
* Knowledge of Food Legislation and Quality & Food Safety Procedures, HACCP microbiological and analytical techniques and interpretation of results and factory and Company Procedures, Policies and Quality Standards.
* Basic IT skills; familiar with email, spreadsheets and databases.
Salary – Dependant on experience
Hours of work – 40 hours per week
