A leading food ingredients company is seeking a Process Development Technologist to join its growing NPD Department. This newly created role offers the opportunity to work on innovative ingredient solutions, supporting a wide range of food applications. Why Join This Team? A newly established role in an expanding team, currently consisting of five members, with plans to grow to eight. The successful candidate will join two existing technologists, ensuring collaboration and support. The position offers the chance to work on exciting product development projects, focusing on ingredient functionality and process optimisation. Hands-on lab training available for those with food industry compliance knowledge but limited laboratory experience. Key Responsibilities: Conducting lab and production trials, testing raw ingredient performance, and developing tailored ingredient blends. Working with suppliers to source and approve raw materials, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards. Supporting the creation of customer samples, trial product specifications, and relevant process documents. Troubleshooting formulation issues, such as stabilising soft cheese or optimising bakery ingredient blends. Delivering detailed trial, production, and analysis reports to support new product development (NPD). Collaborating with technical, quality, and commercial teams to provide expert ingredient solutions. Completing self-assessments, audit documentation, and technical questionnaires to ensure compliance. Maintaining food safety, legality, and quality standards across raw material approval, WIP, and finished product processes. Candidate Requirements: Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, or a related field. Either: A graduate with a strong academic foundation and a keen interest in New Product Development (NPD), or A professional with a minimum of three years’ NPD experience within the food industry (experience with ingredients, dairy, sauces, or bakery is highly desirable). HACCP Level 3 certification (or willingness to obtain). Solid understanding of food legislation and industry standards (e.g., BRCGS). Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organisational abilities, with the flexibility to manage a dynamic and evolving workload.
