Attendance and Welfare Officer Location: Coventry Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only Hours: 8:00 - 16:00 or 8:15 - 16:15 Salary: Grade 6 - £27,711 – £35,999 (Actual Salary: £24,264 – £26,757) Start Date: Flexible – the school is happy to accommodate notice periods The Role An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Attendance and Welfare Officer to join a school in Coventry. This newly created role is integral in supporting students, parents, and external agencies to ensure high levels of attendance and student welfare. The school is looking for a professional who can confidently manage attendance records, liaise with parents and carers, and work collaboratively to address social and safeguarding concerns. Key Responsibilities Maintaining and managing attendance records using Bromcom. Meeting with parents and students to discuss attendance concerns, including holding difficult conversations when necessary. Conducting welfare visits and liaising with external agencies regarding social issues. Supporting students by welcoming them at the start of the school day and monitoring late arrivals. Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and attending relevant training. Required to work on inset days and participate in CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions. Supporting the school’s pastoral team in identifying and addressing barriers to attendance. Requirements Previous experience working in an attendance, pastoral, or welfare-related role within an education setting. Strong knowledge of Bromcom or SIMS is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and handle sensitive discussions with students and parents. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for welfare visits. A good understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures. Additional Information This is a permanent position with the flexibility to adapt as it is a newly created role.
