Defence Children Services (DCS) has staff working in Military establishments across the world. St Johns School is one of our 21 MOD Schools and Early Years Settings providing education for the children of Defence Personnel (service and civilian) serving overseas. It is a small but vibrant 11-18 secondary school serving the military community in British Forces Cyprus. Job description To ensure learning and outcomes for students learning Science and Maths, the key areas of responsibility for this role include: Teaching and Learning To teach Science (preferably specialising in Chemistry) up to Key Stage 5 and Maths up to Key Stage 4. To teach a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum and prepare Schemes of Work, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment. To facilitate and encourage high quality learning which provides learners with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. To deliver well-planned, engaging and creative lessons, ensuring that the needs of all learners are met. To differentiate appropriately, using approaches that enable every learner to access the learning and make excellent progress. To demonstrate excellent subject knowledge in all relevant areas. To set learners challenging learning and developmental goals, and to draw upon varied strategies, resources and technologies to support learners in achieving these goals. To follow school procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on pupils achievements and to use this information effectively to convey progress in report writing and record keeping. To provide pupils with regular written and oral feedback and encourage them to reflect and respond to their feedback as per policy. To prepare and present regular displays of learners work around the school. To take part on a residential trip. To participate fully in the schools extra-curricular and school activities programme.
