About the Role
We require a performance-driven and proactive Operational Excellence (OPEX) Manager to lead continuous improvement efforts in our Leeds factory. This role is key in leading improvements in safety, quality, cost saving, and delivery performance alongside creating a Lean and Six Sigma-driven culture of improvement.
As an OPEX Manager, you will work cross-functionally with leadership, engineering, production, and quality organizations to identify process inefficiencies, create data-driven solutions, and create measurable business improvements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Continuous Improvement
o Develop and implement site-wide operational excellence strategies.
o Foster a culture of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement.
o Spearhead initiatives to optimize manufacturing operations, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
2. Performance Measures & Data-Based Insights
o Monitor key site performance measures (KPIs) of safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
o Use root cause analysis, value stream mapping, and process auditing to eliminate inefficiency.
o Present data-based reports to top management with implementable insights and recommendations.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Change Management
o Work hand-in-hand with site leadership, production, engineering, and quality teams to coordinate improvement initiatives.
o Facilitate workshops and training sessions to champion Lean and Six Sigma methodologies across the site.
o Champion change management programs to ensure the smooth implementation of new processes and systems.
4. Compliance & Safety-First Approach
o Ensure all operational excellence initiatives comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
o Advocate for a safety-first culture while implementing efficiency-driven changes.
What We’re Looking For
1. Education & Experience
o Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
o Successful experience in manufacturing operations management, with a track record of implementing continuous improvement programs in a complex production environment.
o In-depth knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
o Cross-functional team management experience and working in a high-performing, high-speed manufacturing environment.
o Able to analyze data, identify root causes, and drive measurable improvements.
o Experience with SAP or other manufacturing ERP systems.
o Background in automated/semi-automated production environments.
