Job Purpose
1. RES currently provides High Voltage Operations and Maintenance (HV O&M) Services to renewable energy assets in the UK & Ireland. Due to increased demand from our clients, we are seeking an Offshore HV Senior Authorised Person (132kV) upwards to grow and improve this service.
2. RES provides OFTO O&M to a number of sites around the UK where we are required to provide full Safety from the System services and either delivery or delivery management of a full O&M service
3. RES has a strong pipeline of works and projects with EA3 currently being mobilised to supply Safety from the System for a 95 turbine project with two 400KV DC converter stations delivering around 1.2GW
Key Accountabilities The responsibilities of the HV SAP’s include:
4. Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standards
5. Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status at increasing voltages.
6. Become fully conversant and make sure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the RES Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions, this will include but is not limited to:
7. Preparing, issuing and cancelling safety documents
8. Carrying out switching, isolation and earthing duties
9. Acting as Control Engineer
10. Preparing switching schedules
11. Managing the interface between system boundaries with site and DNO/NGT as required
12. Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments
13. Producing maintenance plans for HV equipment
14. Maintaining the asset register
15. Management and/or delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
16. Producing final reports
17. Carry out basic protection testing on HV related equipment. Complex protection relay testing is desirable.
18. Undertaking troubleshooting and fault-finding on RES controlled plant/equipment.
19. Carrying out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training.
20. Keeping in close communication with HV Control and Project Lead SAP
21. Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO/NGT and asset owner
22. Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances
23. Other duties commensurate with the role
Knowledge Essential:
24. HV Safe Systems of Work
25. Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance
26. Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules
27. Detailed knowledge of HV equipment
28. HV maintenance practices including HSG230
29. Knowledge of Working offshore
Desirable:
30. Earthing system installation and test. Protection system installation and test.
Skills Essential:
31. Strong approach to safe working practices
32. Able to operate and maintain various types of HV plant/equipment.
33. Excellent communication skills
34. Good people skills
35. Ability to coordinate multiple activities whilst ensuring safety and quality are maintained
36. Ability to identify problems, conduct analysis and develop solutions
Desirable:
37. Able to use equipment for testing and fault finding on HV plant/equipment
Experience Essential:
38. SAP Experience @ 132KV upwards
39. Operation and maintenance of HV Equipment
40. Experience in fault finding on HV plant and equipment.
41. Commissioning HV plant and equipment.
42. Basic HV protection testing
43. Will have worked offshore
Desirable:
44. Complex Protection relay testing and commissioning.
Qualifications Essential:
45. Full UK driving licence
46. Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules at 132KV
47. IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent
Desirable:
48. Electrical Engineering HND or equivalent industry experience
