IT Technician – Join Our Growing Team at Protec Services!

Job Overview:
This is a permanent, full-time position offering 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, between 8am – 6pm. Occasional travel away from home may be required, and you will also be included in the call-out/remote support rota. A full UK driving license is essential as you will need to visit client premises. A company van will be provided for day-to-day duties.
Salary is competitive and based on experience, with an expected range of £25K – £30K, negotiable depending on your skills and qualifications. We offer 28 days of holiday, including bank holidays.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience working in a similar IT support environment. You will have a solid understanding of IT systems, network infrastructure, and troubleshooting techniques, and be able to apply your knowledge in a variety of technical situations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Visit client premises to install and service a variety of network infrastructures (business and residential).
* Provide IT support for systems including MS Office, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, domain management, virtual servers, routers, Wi-Fi, switches, and firewalls.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IT devices and SIP/VOIP phone networks.
* Perform cable and network fault finding to ensure smooth operations and connectivity.
* Diagnose and resolve hardware and network issues, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
Essential Skills:
* Excellent customer service skills, with a professional telephone manner.
* Strong ability to follow instructions and manage workload effectively.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot IT issues, including cable and network faults.
* Willingness to pursue further training and development.
* Experience supporting 365, AWS, Azure, and other cloud platforms.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, and Group Policy.
* Experience supporting Windows (10-11), Mac, and Linux operating systems.
* Knowledge of server OS (2012-2025) and network administration.
* Experience with firewall setup and configuration.
* Familiarity with Hyper-V, SQL databases, and backup software.
* A deep understanding of LANs, WANs, VPNs, switches, VLANs, routers, Wi-Fi, and network protocols.
* Experience in managing PCI DSS compliance and AV patch management.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
* Technical knowledge of mobile and tablet devices, including Apple and Android products.
* Project management skills and experience.
