Job Description:
A key role that is at the heart of delivering business performance; as an Assistant Buyer for Cycling, you will support the buyer in delivering industry-leading ranges of products, at the right time, priced and promoted accordingly to deliver the business financial and market share targets. You will need to work cross-functionally to succeed: with the Customer team to provide insight into the planning cycle, the Procurement team to deliver the best value & drive ESG, the Stock team to maximise stock turn, and Store operations & Digital to deliver best-in-class channel execution.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Support the Buyer for Cycling in implementing effective category strategies in terms of managing the supply base, buying, ranging, margin mix, promotional framework, merchandising, planning, and stock management, ensuring a true multi-channel approach is taken.
2. Monitor and manage the ongoing trading performance of the category, ensuring we plan and forecast rigorously, to allow us to deliver our revenue, margin, profit, and market share ambitions.
3. Drive procurement benefits through developing supplier partnerships and buying alliances.
4. Lead the charge on delivering ESG targets—packaging, product, science-based targets, and emissions for all partners to name the key ones.
5. Capture data and set up products accurately and on time.
6. Deliver innovation across the categories.
7. Monitor and manage the customer experience measures, ensuring tactical interventions are implemented where appropriate.
8. Work with the channel and operational teams to ensure we are maximising the trading opportunities available.
9. Act as a product expert—working with the proposition team, procurement function, and suppliers to ensure we have the best range sourced with the most beneficial financials.
