Job Title: Studio Manager & Repro Operative

Job Overview:
As a Studio Manager & Repro Operative, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the studio while overseeing the preparation of artwork for print production. This role requires a balance of creative design, technical reprographics expertise, and being a team player. You will ensure that all design files are production-ready, accurate, and align with the printing process. Additionally, you will play a key role in coordinating with clients and internal teams to maintain the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Studio Management:
* Oversee the daily activities of the studio.
* Coordinate workflow and deadlines to ensure timely delivery of artwork.
* Monitor project progress and ensure resource allocation to meet client demands.
* Develop and implement studio procedures to enhance efficiency and maintain a high standard of quality.
* Participate in regular team meetings and manage client feedback, ensuring a collaborative working environment.
* Reprographics & Prepress:
* Ensure all artwork and files are prepared and pre-flighted for print production according to print specifications.
* Provide technical advice and guidance to clients, ensuring artwork is achievable within production constraints.
* Oversee amendments, checking, and proofing of all packaging and print artwork.
* Perform quality checks on all artwork files to ensure accuracy, including color proofing and error correction.
* Work with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Esko Artpro or similar prepress software to prepare and finalize print-ready files.
* Client Communication:
* Serve as the main point of contact for clients regarding design specifications, timelines, and production requirements.
* Manage client expectations by providing accurate timelines, technical advice, and regular updates on project status.
* Liaise with internal production and print team to ensure smooth file transfers and resolve any technical issues.
* Quality Assurance:
* Maintain the highest standards of quality control for all design output and prepress work.
* Conduct regular reviews of workflows, ensuring continuous improvement in production processes.
Key Requirements:
* Experience:
* At least 2 years of experience in the print industry, including studio management and reprographics.
* Strong experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Esko Artpro or similar prepress software.
* Proven experience in file preparation for print, including knowledge of artwork, prepress, and repro procedures.
* Technical Skills:
* Thorough understanding of colour management, printing techniques, and packaging artwork preparation.
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design-to-print issues efficiently.
* Experience with CAD & Design Skills would be an added advantage.
Education:
* GCSE or equivalent (required).
