What's involved with this role: Interim Children's Home Registered Manager Reference no: Bradford 5261331 Pay Rate: £321.29 per day PAYE 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 6 months City: BRADFORD Enhanced DBS disclosure required The role is likely to be extended past 6 months. The home is a 4 bed children home with a strong management team and an experienced assistant manager and two senior residential practitioners. The home is currently RI however is expecting their full inspection between January and March this year. The home has a strong ethos of PACE and trauma informed practice and only has two young people currently living there with the management team considering a third. The post holder must ensure that high standards of practice are achieved and that services are delivered in accordance and compliance with the National Children’s Home Regulations (2015), Children’s Homes Quality Standards(2015) and internal policies, procedures and guidance. You will support the Children’s Residential Service to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people and ensure they have the opportunity to thrive. You will ensure legislative and regulatory requirements regarding all issues (Human Resources, Health and Safety, Environmental Health etc) but especially regarding the care of children are met. Particularly you will ensure that the Home meets all regulatory requirements to achieve Ofsted gradings of Good or Outstanding. Key Responsibilities: Take leadership and management responsibility for the development and shaping of the home whilst ensuring dynamic and creative plans for children and young people living in the home, (especially those with a complex range of needs and behaviours due to, but not exclusively, early trauma and attachment). You will manage the home in order to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people, taking the role as designated safeguarding lead for the home; and take all reasonable steps and support staff in the home to locate and ensure the safe return of any young people who are missing from the home. You will be committed to safeguarding young people and have an excellent understanding of child protection procedures. Ensure the home operates within the Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), paying attention to detail to ensure the home is judged as ‘good ‘or outstanding’ by Ofsted. The post holder will lead the Regulation 44 monitoring visits and regulatory inspections from Ofsted, as well as supporting the team members to contribute to the process. You will ensure that timely, focussed action plans are developed and implemented to meet any requirements or recommendations following Regulation 44 monitoring visits or Ofsted inspections. You will complete the Regulation 45 Quality of Care Reviews every 6 months, ensuring that feedback is gained from all stakeholders to Inform and develop the Children’s Home Development Plan. You will ensure that the home has a staff development and training programme that enables them to be skilled and knowledgeable in order to meet the needs of young people in the home as defined by the Home Statement of Purpose and Function. You will provide formal and informal supervision to staff and undertake appraisals. You will be expected to take responsibility for the development of staff and participate in the recruitment and retention of staff. You will be expected to share knowledge and experience with the team and identify opportunities for the continuing professional development of the staff team. You will be expected to monitor training records and ensure that all mandatory training is undertaken and kept up-to-date, as well as delivering training when required. Key requirements: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services with Children and Young People’s Residential Management Pathway. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare Must have a good working knowledge and ability with maths and be able to carry out work such as financial oversight etc. Knowledge of current evidence-based research about the needs of children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, difficulties forming relationships and attachments, and require support to manage/regulate their own behaviour and mental health.
