Townshend Agricultural Contracting Ltd is a Silage, Cultivation and Slurry Contracting business based in the Ashburton area. We are after a motivated and enthusiastic Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Workshop Foreman. This must be someone who takes pride in their work, can manage staff under their care and complete jobs to the highest standard. The successful candidate will be responsible for all of our mechanical requirements both in the workshop and out in the field, with a secondary mechanic available for on-call work also. The work will be varied, and the applicant must be flexible when urgent work arrives at specific times.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Performing services and repairs of agricultural machinery and company fleet vehicles.
* Diagnosing mechanical issues, electrical issues, repairing of the diagnosed issue, transmission repairs, king pin replacements, tie rod replacements, engineering repairs to machinery and/or implements, tyre replacements and more.
* Ordering of parts and supplies to complete the necessary tasks.
* Inspecting and record keeping.
* Management of staff under their care and quality control checking.
* Prioritising work flow to get urgent jobs completed in a timely, efficient, but quality manner.

Minimum requirements for the role:
* At least 3 years of work experience in a similar mechanical/vehicle servicing role.
We are looking for a motivated self-starter, physically capable with a positive attitude who can work unsupervised, or part of a team. You will have the ability to work to deadlines and be able to build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally.
Hours generally 8am – 5pm, but due to contracting the applicant must be available for some weekend work, and the occasional after hours call. At least 40 hours weekly will be guaranteed.
