This is an exciting fixed term opportunity to work within our haematology team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our team and support the delivery of high quality safe care.
The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with degree level education (Adult) with relevant current clinical, managerial and strategic experience.
You will work autonomously providing advice & guidance, triage and clinics, working closely with the medical consultant team you will be supported.
You will ensure the best possible standards of patient care and maintain patient safety to assist in providing a positive patient experience. The right candidate will have strong communication skills.

Main duties of the job
You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident at communicating with patients who are facing a life limiting illness. You will need to be confident in communicating with all members of the multi-disciplinary team at all levels. You will be expected to carry out venepuncture, venesection, bone marrow biopsies and cannulate patients daily. You will need to be able to demonstrate the Trust Values within your everyday work.

To fulfil the role of Chemotherapy and Acute Haematology Lead for the organisation.

Skills & Knowledge
* Report writing skills.
* Ability to lead and manage a service or area of practice with high degree of autonomy.
* Ability to prioritise a complex workload and work in a rapidly changing environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project specific policy context.
* Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding.
Physical Skills
* Current driving licence.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (appropriate to branch) with extensive experience of clinical work in specialist area.
* Current NMC registration.
* Possession of a Masters Degree.
* Evidence of specialist education related to area of clinical expertise.
* Non-medical prescribing.
* Possession of or working towards a Doctorate.
* Business management experience.

* Ability to demonstrate significant broad senior leadership experience.
* Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for mentorship relevant to role.
* Self-motivated, pro-active and personally resilient.
* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Research experience, including leading own research and publications.
* Experience of developing / leading service development / audit projects.
* Experience of developing and delivering educational programmes.
* Experience / evidence of nurse leadership in relation to their service at a regional and/or national level.
